An Interactive Student Resource

(Current resources recommended for grades 3rd-6th. Full K-12 resource and digital platform coming soon)

The Discovery Series from Rewriting Futures walks children through three strategically identified sections designed to shed light on life at home, help identify difficulties and how to overcome them, and open the door to goal-setting and dreaming:

My Home • Overcoming • Dreaming

Each section has a writing component (Workbook), and a sharing component  in a small group (Discovery Group) in the classroom or club. Discovery Guides (small group leaders) lead the small group discussions with students.

Rewrite the future.

We have six desired outcomes with the Discovery series.

1

The Opportunity to Be Known

The Discovery Series gives children the opportunity to share about their life, difficult experiences, and dreams for a brighter future.
2

A Safe Environment

The Discovery Series gives teachers the opportunity to create a safe environment for sharing and vulnerability in both small group and one on one contexts.
3

Dreams for the Future

The Discovery Series helps students to identify goals and dreams for the future – the things they would like to change in their lives personally, in their families and in the world.
4

Roadblocks Identified

The Discovery Series helps each child to identify the roadblocks that can derail their dreams and ways to overcome those roadblocks.
5

Choices & Influences

The Discovery Series seeks to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse by emphasizing the opportunity to make right choices and tether themselves to healthy and positive influences.
6

Relationship Building

The Discovery Series facilitates the development of positive relational environments where teachers can hear students’ hearts and encourage them in deeper, more meaningful ways throughout the year.

Stats & Research

Children are facing incredible challenges today. From social media to social anxiety, bullying and violence, increased substance abuse, depression and suicide. Dr. Robert Block, the former President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said, “Adverse childhood experiences are the single greatest unaddressed public health threat facing our nation today.” The ACES Study conducted by the Center for Disease Control and the Kaiser Foundation identified the direct physical illness outcomes resulting from these childhood experiences. The bad outcomes often result when adverse childhood experiences are not addressed in a timely manner. In a sense they remain “undiscovered.”
